She is a teacher of design, pattern-making and the art of sewing. She met Svetlana
Babenko at a sewing course in Chelyabinsk in 2011. Svetlana had completed courses
with a master furrier in Nefteyugansk, Russia, followed by 20 years experiece desiging
and making hats and similar items. In 2001 she moved to Chelyabinsk and started her
own business making bespoke fur caps, berets and clothing. In 2010 Svetlana moved
her business to England where and started making berets using felt rather than fur.
Since 2011 Tatiana and Svetlana worked together on a new felting technique
integrating wool and silk fibres to produce unusual textures, colour combinations and
complex 3D shapes. They designed and made and marketed a range of individually
crafted Gilets, dresses, and berets, establishing the “Talana Couture” Brand. Tatiana
and Svetlana are now based in Lewes, teaching Master Classes in felting and
extending their Talana product range to produce fashion accessories, including felt
roses. These products will be available for sale at the Christmas Craft extravaganza.
